Updated: Nov 10

One of the best times that I think you can have on a camping trip is to sit around the fire, make s' mores, talk, and make that easier. You need a lighter.

So what are some of the best lighters for camping?

A lighter is more than just something that produces flame on a camping trip. It is a convenience that takes the stress right out of trying to make a fire, but what type should you use? A more traditional reliable lighter or a newer and arguably cooler plasma or electric lighter? These are all questions that you need answering before you go out on your next trip, so let's get to it.

Which lighter do you need for your camping trip?

If you are going on a camping trip, one of the biggest things you should know is that you should have a windproof lighter. These are great devices and take a lot of the stress out of trying to start a fire. With that thought in mind, there are various factors that will make these lighters useful for you.

The first thing that stands out for me when I was researching the Icfun Waterproof Lighter is that it is waterproof. The lighter being waterproof is a good thing to have if you get caught in a rainstorm and everything gets soaked. With this lighter, you won't have to worry about it sputtering out from being wet, and you should be able to get a fire started with dry kindling.

The lighter itself is USB charged, so it is fast and efficient with the bonus that you don't have to worry about refueling the lighter. The charge on this electric lighter is not stated on the amazon page but based on what I've read from other users. I would say that this lighter should last one to two weeks with small amounts of use. Of course, since it is USB charged, you can use a solar-powered battery pack to charge it, or you can use your car.

I like that the light comes with a handy lanyard that lets you keep track of the lighter and make sure that it is never far out of reach. The lighter also comes with the reachable lithium-ion that the lighter needs, but it is nice to know that the battery is provided with the lighter.

Overall this would seem to be a good lighter for your camping trip as it is both has useful features and is very popular among people who have bought the lighter.

The Torch Fire Lighter Jet Flame Butane Gas Refillable Safety Igniter is a refillable lighter with a flexible head. This lighter is reasonably well-liked for a product that was only added on amazon a year ago. It seems to be popular with those purchased for the features that it had, so let's get down to those.

One of the important things to keep in mind is that this lighter runs on butane, which you will need to use this lighter. The lighter does not use electricity to physically light the fire, but it does use the power from a battery to light the gas. The lighter itself comes with a lithium-ion battery that will provide said power for the lighting process.

Torch Fire Lighter's neck is a flexible neck that you can bend to get a good angle on the fire you are trying to start. I think that this is good for lighting fires when you have stacked wood and have kindling underneath. The fact that the feature is meant more for candles but can be used for this is a sign of good versatility on the product's side.

The Tough Tesla Lighter 2.0 – Outdoor Waterproof Windproof Top-Facing Dual Arc Plasma USB Electric w/Built-in Flashlight, Paratinder Lanyard & Emergency Whistle by Frog & Co. (Orange)

The Tough Tesla Lighter 2.0 is a fun Swiss army knife of a camping gadget that offers you a few different features that make it useful. The Tough Tesla Lighter 2.0 is a lighter first and foremost, though, and one thing that it does well is lite fires. If for no other reason than it does this well, it should be on your list of possible lighters.

The lighter is an electric lighter that you can have fully charged by the time you are done watching a movie. Two hours is how long it takes to charge this lighter back to full strength from empty, and I don't think that is a bad time at all. Once it has been charged, the specs say that it can be used three hundred times on a full charge. I don't know why you would need to use these three hundred times, but I'm not a natural woodsman, and I think having some leeway to start the fire is a good thing.

There is also a ten-second safety system that will shut the lights off if it has been in use for more than ten seconds. A handy safety feature in case it gets turned on or left on by accident.

The Tough Tesla Lighter 2.0 also comes with a number of extra features that make it just a little bit more useful for a camper than an ordinary lighter. The first of these extra features that I found to be very impressive is the fact that this lighter includes a flashlight. It is not a huge flashlight, but you can use it for navigating your way in the dark. The lighter also comes with a whistle in case you get lost and need help.

The lighter comes with a lanyard that allows you to hang it around your neck so that you don't have to worry about losing it or being without it. Inside the lanyard is a Paratinder cord, which is a sturdy and robust material that you can light in an emergency to help start a fire. When you are done, you should be able to blow out the cord and seal it back together using the heat.

This is a good solid lighter for the camper that likes to be prepared for their trip. The lighter is wind and waterproof, making it reliable for your camping needs. The fact that this lighter comes with extra bonuses is an advantage, and one that I think makes it appealing to campers of any level.

Bic Multipurpose Lighters, 4 Pack

Bic Multipurpose Lighters, 4 Pack, BIC, Amazon, https://www.amazon.com/Bic-Multipurpose-Lighters-4-Pack/dp/B00GUQWAS8/ref=sr_1_8?crid=2ASFQ4XR38V92&dchild=1&keywords=windproof+camp+lighter&qid=1603493103&sprefix=wind+proof+%2Caps%2C181&sr=8-8

Now I figured why not finish off this list with a reliable brand of lighter that people have been using for years on their trips, Bic lighters. In this case, we are going to be looking at Bic Multipurpose Lighters that come in a pack of four. Bic has been a reliable brand of lighter for years, and this set seems like it would really well for camping.

This is a four-pack of multipurpose bike lighters, and I can tell you from experience that these lighters work well for starting campfires. I have actually used models like this in the past, and the metal barrel that they have worked well for letting the flame get close to a newspaper or whatever tinder of choice you are using. These models are also refillable as you can change out a spent gas cartridge for a brand new one.

While I will say that these are not the fanciest or most complicated lighters on the market, I think that this work to their advantage. With their simple to use nature, they are good for beginners or glampers, and they are reliable above all else. I also like the fact that there are some safety elements on these lighters, like the fact that they have the pullback switch, which makes them hard to turn on by accident.

This has been my list of the best lighters for camping. If you are looking for more camping advice and ideas, then we have plenty on this site.
